TRAVEL SUGGESTIONS FOR PACRIM VISITORS.

 

Port Stephens Yacht Club is situated at Soldiers Point adjacent to the Soldiers Point Marina.

The distance from Sydney International Airport is approximately 200 km (130 miles).

There are several ways of travelling from Sydney international airport to the Yacht Club.

By air ex Sydney Domestic Airport to Newcastle Airport. www.aeropelican.com.au

This presents several difficulties Transfers. b. Small aircraft.(limited luggage) c. Expensive. d. Airport to PSYC  is 30 mins.by road. e. Coach www.pscoaches.com.au

 or Train Sydney Airport to Newcastle then Coach to Port Stephens is easy, economical, but slow

Rail airport to Central. b. Rail Central to Newcastle. www.cityrail.info/

or Coach Newcastle to Soldiers Point. www.pscoaches.com.au

 Coach Sydney Central Rail to Soldiers Point (PSYC)

Limited timetable   Rail airport to Central. b. Coach to Soldiers Point (PSYC)

Or, Car Rental Sydney Airport to Newcastle Airport.

This is my usual method. No waiting. Economical. Can drive straight to PSYC & return car within 24 hours.

Disadvantage is drive across Sydney if not a confident Right hand drive driver.

Nelson Bay is the main town in Port Stephens and can be accessed either by air from Sydney, Brisbane, or Melbourne by flying to Williamtown Airport.  (also known as Newcastle Airport.    All of these are international airports and can be accessed from all of our visiting countries.

Road and bus travel from Sydney takes about two and a half hours on the Pacific Highway which runs to the north.

Rail travel is possible to Newcastle and connecting buses run from there to Nelson Bay.

The Port Stephens Yacht Club is about 15 minutes drive from Nelson Bay (which is our main town) and is situated at Soldiers Point.

There is a comprehensive shopping complex at Salamander Bay which is 10 kms from Soldiers Point which features chain stores, Post Office etc as well as a small local shopping strip only 4 kms away from our Clubhouse.
